Overview

This is a very basic, do-the-job charger that will… do the job. However, evec is a reputable company so this is no bargain-basement affair that’ll break after 5 minutes. For £379 you simply get a charger, for £769 you get the charger and fitting, and for £869 you get the charger, fitting and five-year warranty. It uses an app to control charging schedules, monitor use, and costs but it’s not going to give you all the functionality that more expensive chargers offer such as solar or dynamic tariff integration. You can choose Type 1 or Type 2 chargers from the range and tethered or untethered models but this is the cheapest. It’s weatherproof, has in-built PEN protection (no need for an earth rod) and load balancing, to stop overloads tripping your fusebox. You can adjust the power settings to either 3.7kW or 7.4kW, however.
