Home charger company Simpson & Partners has noted ‘strong similarities’ between the design of its chargers and the recently launched Quartz product from Andersen EV.
The observation follows comments and feedback from customers, designers and industry professionals, who have drawn attention to significant visual and material similarities between Simpson & Partners’ flagship products and the Quartz range.
These design choices encompassing proportion, form, angles, and surface detailing create a striking resemblance that has led to confusion among customers. Many assume Simpson & Partners has licensed its product to Andersen EV, which is not the case.

Simpson & Partners has been designing and manufacturing premium EV chargers since 2020, with its distinctive design language becoming publicly recognisable from 2022 onward. The company believes the similarities merit further examination and is currently exploring its position with respect to design rights and intellectual property protections under UK law.
“We welcome fair competition and innovation in the EV charging space,” said David Simpson, COO of Simpson & Partners. “However, the level of overlap we’re seeing raises concerns.
“Our designs reflect years of development, not just in terms of function but in the unique, architecturally inspired aesthetic that we have become known for.”
Simpson & Partners’ chargers are often specified by architects and designers due to their thoughtful integration into a wide range of British homes, from period properties to contemporary builds. The brand is known for its use of sustainable, high-quality materials and a commitment to craftsmanship.
While Simpson & Partners makes no claim about Andersen EV’s intentions, the company believes that the notable alignment in design details — such as interchangeable faceplates, flush mounting, and proportions — warrants a transparent conversation around originality and ethics in product design.

“We are proud of what we’ve built — a product grounded in both performance and design integrity,” added Simpson. “As we review our options with regard to potential IP protection, our focus remains on innovation, sustainability and delivering on the trust our customers have placed in us.”
